The short version: Wattlebird Learning’s games have no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies. Everything a game saves stays in the browser on your device. The site counts visits anonymously so we know how many people use it.

The games

This note covers this website and its games: Gold Block Maths, Legend Waters and Deep Time Dig.

What the games save

  • Each player’s name (a first name or nickname is plenty) and the look they choose for their character.
  • Practice records: which sums were answered, whether each answer was right, how long it took, and a summary for each day.
  • Game progress, such as coins and badges, fish caught, fossils found, medals and levels.
  • Settings, such as the maths to practise, the speed target and sound.

All of this is kept in your browser’s storage for this website. The games don’t send it to us or to anyone else, and we can’t see it.

Keeping progress safe

Clearing your browser’s history or website data erases saved progress. Safari can also clear data for websites that haven’t been used for a while. On an iPad or iPhone, adding a game to the Home Screen (Share, then Add to Home Screen) avoids that.

To keep a copy, or to move progress to another device, use Download a backup on the game’s Grown-ups page. The backup is a file saved on your device. It isn’t uploaded anywhere.

Moving from an old address

Gold Block Maths used to live at goldblockmaths.pages.dev. If you open that old address, it sends you here and offers to bring your saved players along. They travel inside the link itself, in the part after the # sign, which browsers never send to any website or server. Nothing is copied until you say yes.

Cookies and other websites

The games don’t use cookies. The fonts and pictures all come from this site.

To see how many people use the site, it counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which loads a small script from Cloudflare. Cloudflare says this doesn’t use cookies or identify individual visitors. We only see totals, such as the number of page views, which countries visits come from and what kinds of devices are used. It never sees a child’s name, answers or progress.

If a support button such as “Buy me a coffee” is shown, it opens a separate website with its own privacy policy. The games don’t pass anything to it.

Hosting

Like every website, this one is delivered by a web hosting service (Cloudflare). When your device loads a page, the host receives standard technical details, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks. We don’t use these details to identify anyone.

Children

The games are made for children. They don’t ask for an email address, age, school or location, and player names never leave the device.
